When the clock strikes midnight on New Year's Eve, the Tameside skyline will be alight with colourful fireworks and loud bangs to usher in 2023.
However, residents may hear something a little bit different this year, as a World War One and World War Two memorabilia collector will be activating his air raid siren to celebrate the new year.
Ray Fricker, who lives in Droylsden, has spent many years collecting war memorabilia. Arguably, his most notable collector's item is the air raid siren, which he bought and renovated to bring it back to life.

A labour of love, Ray has assembled a huge collection of items from both the battlefield and the home front.
Ray has been given permission from the police to use the siren and contacted the Reporter to make residents aware of the situation,
