A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of the abduction and sexual assault of a six-year-old girl in Droylsden.
Greater Manchester Police said on Friday morning (19 August) that the man remains in custody for questioning.
The child was allegedly taken by a man on Warne Avenue and into a wooded area near to the disused railway track towards Manchester Road at around 4pm on Wednesday afternoon (17 August).
She was safely reunited with her family a short time later but parents were warned to be "extra vigilant".
A spokesperson for GMP said: "We thank the public for their help so far and we are continuing to appeal for information.
"Please contact officers on 0161 856 9262 or alternatively on LiveChat with any information, quoting incident 2270 of 17/08."
The arrest comes after police released three CCTV images of a man they wanted to speak to.
Previously, a 35-year-old man was arrested but was since released with no further action taken.
The girl, along with her family, are receiving support from specialist officers.
