National Highways have confirmed that there was a vehicle fire on the hard shoulder southbound at Junction 30 at the Snipe in Ashton this morning.
Emergency services attended and all three lanes southbound were closed for a short time to deal with the incident and make the area safe.
The incident occurred at 7.38am and the motorway was fully reopened at 8.08am.
