Local Studies and Archives Centre is back open

Tameside Local Studies and Archives Centre in Ashton has reopened its doors for the first time since lockdown.

The centre on Cotton Street East welcomed visitors on Tuesday (13 October) for the first time in many months.

Anyone planning to visit the centre must book an appointment, with the number of people using the centre limited due to coronavirus restrictions.

To book an appointment to look into your family history, local history or the history of the Manchester Regiment, email localstudies@tameside.gov.uk

Staff have also implemented a number of safety procedures including a one-way system and a Perspex screen at the counter.

In line with current government guidance, visitors will also need to wear a face covering when inside the building.
