Key deadlines are coming up for Tameside residents wishing to vote in the local election on 7 May 2026.
Anyone not already registered to vote can register up until 11.59pm on Monday 20 April at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
People wishing to apply for a postal vote can do so up until 5pm on Tuesday 21 April at www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote
To appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf at your polling station, you need to apply by 5pm on Tuesday 28 April at www.gov.uk/apply-proxy-vote
Voters are reminder they need to show valid photo ID to vote in a polling station. Common accepted forms of ID include passports and driving licences – for a full list of accepted ID see www.gov.uk/how-to-vote/photo-id-youll-need. Alternatively they can apply for Voter Authority Certificate by 5pm on 28 April at www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate
Polling Stations will be open from 7am to 10pm for the local election on Thursday 7 May 2026.
