Droylsden Academy headteacher Philip Wilson has written to parents on behalf of Tameside Council to appeal for them to ensure they and students abide by Covid-19 restrictions.
Although Tameside as part of Greater Manchester has been placed in the new ‘Tier 2’ alert level revealed this week, the guidance remains essentially the same for the region for now but could change if it gets moved to 'Tier 3' as the government is proposing.
Mr Wilson writes: “You may be aware that the number of new coronavirus infections across Tameside is continuing to increase.
“I know this remains a difficult time for many of you and your children and we have seen disruption to all of our lives throughout this situation, including life in school.
“It is as important as ever to continue to do everything we can to protect ourselves and others from this disease.”
He outlines the basic steps to remember, including washing hands regularly, maintaining social distancing, wearing face masks and not mixing with other households.
