Essential gas pipe replacement work is being undertaken on Stockport Road in Mossley.
Cadent started the pipe works on Monday (October 14) and will continue for around four weeks.
There is a one-way closure on Stockport Road between the junction of Lees Road to Carrhill Road and a closure of Cross Street at the junction of Stockport Road.
A diversion has been put in place in line with the local Highways Agency agreement.
The work forms part of Cadent’s ongoing 30-year pipe replacement programme and has been developed in conjunction with the Health and Safety Executive and industry regulator Ofgem.
The work is being undertaken in partnership with Balfour Beatty.
Customer services at Balfour Beatty, working in partnership with Cadent, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this essential work.
“Co-operation in this matter is very much appreciated.”
