Festival on the Green promises a day of family fun in Hollingworth

Friends of Hollingworth prepare to stage their much-anticipated Festival on the Green at Wedneshough Green on Saturday, May 23.

Running from 11am to 4.30pm, the event has been organised with the aim of bringing the community together and helping make the village “a better/brighter place to live in.” Organisers say they hope the festival will not only provide a full day of entertainment for local residents and visitors, but also raise funds to ensure the event can return next year.

A packed programme of attractions has been lined up for the day, with something for all ages. Visitors can look forward to 26 artisan stalls selling handmade gifts and local goods, along with a balloon modeller, climbing wall, axe throwing, an RSPCA dog show, vintage rides and games, live music, food and drink, a drum roots workshop, face painting, Hook-a-Duck, the Wriggly Roadshow, ice cream, circus skills workshops and pony rides.

With such a wide range of entertainment on offer, organisers are expecting the festival to draw families from across the area. The emphasis, they say, is on creating a welcoming community event that combines local creativity, children’s activities and traditional fairground-style fun in one setting.

The festival is also being supported through cash donations on entry, with all contributions going towards the Friends of Hollingworth festival fund. Organisers say this will help cover costs and support plans for future events, allowing the celebration to become a regular highlight in the village calendar.

As well as offering a fun day out, the festival reflects the effort of local volunteers working to strengthen community spirit in Hollingworth. With music, activities, stalls and family attractions all set against the backdrop of the village green, the event is shaping up to be a lively occasion and one not to be missed !
