Brave fundraisers invited to fire walk for mental health charity

Tameside residents are invited to step out of their comfort zone and onto hot coals as part of a fundraising challenge for Pennine Care Charity.

The charity’s fire walk will take place on Monday 2 November, from 5-8pm, at Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust headquarters in Ashton-under-Lyne.

The fire walk is open to anyone over the age of 12 looking for a unique personal challenge, while raising money for a good cause.

Participants will have the opportunity to conquer fear by walking across a bed of glowing embers, in support of mental health, learning disability and autism services in Tameside and across Greater Manchester.

Pennine Care Charity raises funds for projects, activities and improvements that go beyond NHS funding, helping to improve experiences and opportunities for patients, service users, carers and local communities.

Recent projects include funding music sessions, sports equipment and a relaxation room for patients on mental health wards at Tameside General Hospital.

Before taking on the challenge, participants will receive comprehensive safety training and guidance from experienced fire walk professionals.

Wes Partington, Pennine Care Charity Director, said: “The fire walk is about courage, resilience and pushing beyond your limits. Walking across hot coals might sound daunting, but taking part is a chance to prove to yourself that you're capable of more than you think.

"By conquering your fear, you'll also be helping others. Every pound raised will support mental health, learning disability and autism services across our communities, funding projects and initiatives that make a real difference to people who use Pennine Care NHS services.

"Whether you're taking part on your own or with friends, family or colleagues, we'd love you to join us for an unforgettable experience and to help change lives along the way."

Anyone interested in taking part can register their interest or find out more at www.penninecarecharity.org.uk or by contacting pcn-tr.penninecarecharity@nhs.net

Pennine Care’s headquarters is based at 225 Old Street, Ashton-under-Lyne, OL6 7SR.
