A dance-themed fun day is coming to Ashton

From Hacienda beats to Doodle Dance, September’s Super Saturday event in Ashton town centre will offer fun for all the family.

Residents, shoppers and visitors are invited to grab their dancing shoes and come along to ‘Dance to the Music!’ on Saturday, 19 September (11am – 3pm), in Fletcher Square, for a fun filled day of incredible music and activities.

Tameside Council’s Cultural Services team has organised the event as part of its regular programme of Super Saturday events, bringing together a fantastic line-up of talented facilitators and musicians to entertain residents and visitors throughout the day.

What to expect:

Get rocking, singing, and dancing with ‘The Thingumajigs’, who play "good time music" and are all about getting everyone involved.

Be blown away by ‘Mora & The Fabulous Wonderfuls’ unique blend of righteous anthems & soul-lifting songs created to rouse your spirit and move your feet!

Residents can then make their own moves with the Born and Bred Dance Theatre through their interactive movement workshop ‘Doodledance’.

There will also be a chance to enjoy free craft activities from Tameside’s own magical travelling emporium ‘Phantasmagoria’.

Ashton town centre will also be hosting the incredible ‘Mr Wilson’s Second Liners’, a rabble of mischievous northerners and revolutionary genres bashers, who took the style of New Orleans Second Line, and fused it with their love of the diehard days of the Hacienda and 90s club culture.

Tameside Council’s Executive Member for Lifelong Learning and Culture Cllr Leanne Feeley said:

“This month’s Super Saturday promises a fantastic day of dance, music and culture for the whole family. It’s a wonderful opportunity to come together and enjoy the vibrant arts and cultural scene in the heart of Ashton. Don’t miss this free day of fun and entertainment while also supporting the town centre. We look forward to seeing you there!"
