Wolves fight back to take victory

Belle Vue notched another league point in their quest for Play Off qualification at Wolverhampton after one of the closest battles to date at Monmore Green.

The BikeRight Aces promised their opponents a stern test ahead of tapes up and were on track to deliver a winning performance, until the Wolves served them a bitterly disappointing 48-42 defeat.

A strong start from both sides kept the scores to within only a few points before the Mancunians edged out the Parrys International Wolves to take the lead in Heat 4.

But a late comeback from the hosts brough the meeting to yet another last heat decider, with Wolverhampton just piping the BikeRight Aces to the post.

Club No.7 Jye Etheridge said: “We gave them a very good run early doors and we are disappointed to have missed out on the win, but that’s Speedway and we can’t take away from the Wolves.

“We had a little bit of rain come over around half way through the meeting and they seemed to adapt much more quickly to conditions after that than we did.

“Monmore can be a tricky track but we still came away with a point which is obviously much better than coming away with nothing.

“We’ve only got a couple more away fixtures left now, I think, before we have a good run of home meetings in the run up to the play offs.

“The boys are all raring to go, it feels like we’ve hardly been at home this year so it’ll be good to get back to Manchester and bang in plenty more points to secure our top four spot.”

The Cool Running Colts take centre stage at the National Speedway Stadium once again this week on Thursday, July 29 when they face the Leicester Cubs.

And the BikeRight Aces return to action at home in the Premiership on Monday, August 2 against the Ipswich Witches, featuring three-time world champion Jason Crump and ex-Belle Vue Ace Craig Cook.

Tickets for this and all 2021 fixtures are now available, unrestricted, online at bellevue-speedway.com and we would encourage all our supporters to buy in advance where possible.
