Weekend Football Review

Our local sides were in league action at the weekend and endured mixed fortunes.

In the National League North, after back-to-back defeats, Curzon Ashton returned to winning ways with a 3-2 win at Bradford Park Avenue.

In the NPL Premier Division, Ashton United extended their unbeaten run to five games and came from behind to beat Gainsborough Trinity 2-1.

Meanwhile, Stalybridge Celtic fell to a fourth consecutive defeat. Simon Haworth's side slipped to a 3-0 defeat to Warrington Town at Bower Fold.

Hyde United picked up a valuable point in their bid against the drop after sharing the spoils in a goalless stalemate at Lancaster City.

In the NPL West, Mossley ended a two-game losing run and returned from Kendal Town with a 2-1 victory. The result leaves the Lilywhites nine points outside the playoffs.

Glossop North End's two-game winning run came to an end at Widnes. The Hillmen fell to a 2-0 defeat and find themselves 12th in the table.
