Ahead of the iconic local running event, The Tour 2026, we’re shining a light on all four individual races, with this week’s focus the gruelling Hero Half Marathon.
The 13.1-mile race sees runners travel along the picturesque Longdendale Trail, which boasts some of the best views Derbyshire has to offer.
Ideal for those chasing a PB or newcomers embarking on their first ever half marathon, the race is suitable for a wide variety of runners.
With its out-and-back nature, faster athletes loop around on their journey back to the start, congratulating other runners as they do, making for a warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout.
The Hero Half Marathon is the third of four challenging races which take place across the weekend.
Not only is the race the longest of the quartet, it’s arguably the toughest, taking place just hours after Friday night’s arduous Hell on the Fell.
The Tour 2026 gets underway on Thursday June 18 with the X-Trail 10k, with the Hero Half taking place on Saturday morning.
