Tour 2026 spotlight: Dr Ron Hill Hyde 7

Ahead of the iconic local running event, The Tour 2026 – which gets underway on Thursday evening – we’re shining a light on all four individual races, with this week’s focus the Dr Ron Hill Hyde 7.

Named in honour of local running legend Dr Ron Hill, the 7-mile race rounds off the four-day weekend in style, taking runners around Hyde and the surrounding areas.

The Tour finale starts and finishes outside the historic Hyde Town Hall, making for a superb atmosphere and photo finish.

Perfect for new and experienced runners alike, the course follows roads and tarmac paths, with plenty of crowd support throughout.

“You have great support going through Hyde, you get lots of people coming out, and that finish is unreal,” revealed 2021 Hyde 7 winner Hayley Simpson.

“Even when your legs are dead you still carry yourself through that finish, it’s iconic.”

The race also features the hugely popular ‘The Victorious Mile’, previously known as ‘My First Mile’, a fully inclusive mile-long race aimed at families and youngsters.

The Victorious Mile – which gets underway shortly after the start of the main race – allows runners to experience the electric atmosphere in a slightly more relaxed setting, with prams, wheelchairs and pushchairs welcome.
