Tameside gymnasts shine in Wigan

Gymnasts from Tameside School of Gymnastics (TSOG) recently showcased their hard work and determination at the North West Preparation and Development Grades competition in Wigan.

After weeks of dedicated training, the team achieved fantastic results, with every gymnast successfully passing their grade with flying colours.

The competition saw the gymnasts perform on five apparatus: Vault, Bars, Beam, Floor, and Range & Conditioning. There were many impressive new skills on display and beautifully performed floor routines.

A special mention goes to Niamh McMahon, who became the Greater Manchester Champion in Preparation Grade 2 for age 9, and also secured an outstanding 2nd place overall in the North West. Additionally, Nina Elebute and Savannah Waters earned Silver and Bronze medals respectively for Preparation Grade 2 in Greater Manchester (age 10+), and Elodyrose Jackson achieved a Bronze medal for Preparation Grade 1 in Greater Manchester (age 9+).

Several of the gymnasts also secured top-three finishes in individual apparatus events, further demonstrating the skill and dedication of the team. Congratulations to all gymnasts for their incredible achievements.

TSOG is thrilled to announce the launch of new gymnastics sessions starting in April! These sessions are specifically designed for girls in Years 3 and 4 who are aspiring to become competitive gymnasts. The classes will take place at Active Ken Ward in Hattersley, on Sundays from 1:00-2:30pm or 2:30-4:00pm.

To give new gymnasts a chance to try it out, TSOG is offering a special two-week trial during the first two weeks of April. Don't miss out – for more information and to register please email tamesidegymnastics@gmail.com.

Not for the first time, Micky Mellon is absolutely coherent with the Latics fans. In praising his side’s Christmas campaign-within-a-campaign, he said he wants his side to turn draws into wins, and to be “that wee bit more clinical” in front of goal. That is all it would take for Latics to be serious contenders for a play-off place.
