Support your local club on Non-League day

Tameside is home to a plethora of talented football teams who will be gearing up to celebrate Non-League Day this weekend.

The event, which was originally set up in 2010, has now become an annual part of the football calendar.

Coinciding with the international break, the day offers the chance to celebrate the brilliance of non-league football and promotes the work of incredible volunteers up and down the country.

Non-league is a key component of sport in Tameside. With clubs in Ashton, Stalybridge, Denton and just about everywhere in between – there is plenty of excuses to get down to a ground and support your local club.

Celebrations will take place on Saturday (26 March) making it a great day to watch your team in action.

Many non-league clubs are exclusively volunteer based, often filled with people who go the extra mile to run projects and facilities to benefit the community. The skill might not be matched to that at the Etihad Stadium, but non-league wins in so many other ways.

With realistic ticket prices, ideal kick off times and a warm welcome as you enter the ground, there’s little to complain about.

You will find a real love for the game within these teams, so if you’re interested to see what non-league has to offer, get on down to your local stadium.

Non-League Day will also be supporting Prostate Cancer UK, a charity which aims support and teach men about the most common cancer in males.

1 in 8 men will suffer from prostate cancer and if you’re over 50 or have a close relative who has had it, you’re at an even higher risk. The earlier you catch it, the more likely it is to be cured.

It is so important to check your risk of prostate cancer, something you can do by visiting Prostate Cancer UK’s website here.
