Stalybridge Celtic Re Sign Defender

Stalybridge Celtic have announced that former captain Chris Smalley has re-joined the club following a short break.

Chris originally joined Celtic from Stockport County in October 2018 and went on to make 27 apps last season for the club being named Celtic’s Players’ Player of the season.

After taking a break for personal reasons, Chris is now back and will be available for Tuesday’s fixture against Grantham.

Chris has also featured for Salford City, Kendal Town and Northwich Victoria.

Manager Simon Haworth was delighted to add Chris into the squad for the remainder of the season as he stated,” Chris is one of the best centre backs in the league.

“We don’t want to go on a whim and sign players for the sake of it which is perhaps what happened last season, but with both Chris and Darius Osei signing for us, we know what we are getting and we know they are going to improve us.”
