Curzon Ashton have announced the signing of defender Jack Stafford following his departure from fellow National League North side Southport.

The 23-year-old made 18 appearances for The Port last season, as well as featuring for Hyde United during a month-long loan spell between February and March.

Capable of playing at both left back and centre back, the former Swansea City man will give Craig Mahon’s side options in a number of areas.

Following his signing, assistant manager Jack Salkeld told the club’s media team:

“We are happy to have Jack with us this season.

“We have done our homework on him, he is a versatile player who can player in a number of positions, and we feel he is a player who will bring a lot of quality to the squad.

“I am looking forward to working with him and watching him kick on.”

The Nash have also confirmed that both Adam Barton and Jordan Richards will remain at the Tameside Stadium for the 25/26 season.

The pair have been integral to the club's success over the past few seasons, and have amassed a total of over 300 appearances combined since joining from Farsley Celtic.

Following his renewal, Richards told the club:

“I’m delighted to be at this football club- everyone is striving to improve year after year.

“I really believe we can do that again next season, and I can’t wait to be part of that.”

Following Barton’s signing, assistant manager Jack Salkeld commented:

“We are delighted that Adam has committed himself to the football club.

“Adam brings bags of experience, quality and knowledge on and off the pitch.

“Having played over 180 games for Curzon, he’s shown fantastic loyalty and he gets what we are trying to do moving forward as a management and football team.

“I’m sure The Nash fans will be happy with this one.”
