Russell Scott Pupils Stride To Sixth Place Finish At Sportshall Athletics Competition

Pupils across the region assembled at Sports City last week to battle it out in the Greater Manchester Sportshall Athletics competition.

The event, which is a key date on the school calendar, saw Russell Scott Primary School and Greswell Primary School, both based in Denton, invited to participate after qualifying earlier in the month.

Russell Scott are no strangers to the competition, having been crowned the champions of the preliminary event, coordinated by the Tameside School Sports Partnership and held at Denton Community College, for an eighth consecutive year.

Unfortunately, despite a valiant display against 19 other schools on the day, Russell Scott were unable to take home the Greater Manchester crown.

The school, coached by Darren Gorman, has since taken part in a volleyball event and have qualified for the finals, which is scheduled to be held on Wednesday afternoon at Fairfield High School for Girls.
