Rashford becomes bookies' favourite to win Sports Personality of the Year

Marcus Rashford now 11/8 fav at Betfred to be next BBC sports personality of year.

The Manchester United and England star was a 100/1 outsider before he forced government u turn over child poverty in school holidays.

He wrote impassioned plea to Mps pleading with them to put politics aside to provide free lunches to vulnerable schoolchildren during school summer holidays as they have suffered enough during lockdown.

He referenced his own tough start in life in Wythenshawe, Manchester where he benefited from free school dinners and breakfast clubs.

Betfred spokesman Peter Spencer said: "Tyson Fury who happened to be born in Wythenshawe has been odds on fav all year having beaten his demons and transformed his out of ring demeanour but he's now behind Rashford at 6/4. As the United ace's life changing campaign has built momentum we've had some substantial bets ... and not just from not just United fans."
