Match Report: Hyde United v Bamber Bridge

Hyde United came from behind to rescue a point at home to Bamber Bridge on Saturday (December 9) after a last-minute equaliser from Jack Redshaw.

The Tigers made the perfect start to the match, taking the lead after just 15 minutes through Matty Fearnley, who stroked the ball home from just outside the six-yard box after a pinpoint cutback from Shakeel Jones-Griffiths.

The home side were close to doubling their lead just moments later when Harry Bunn's long-range effort was dragged just wide of the left-hand post.

Visitors Bamber Bridge then had the ball in the net through Lamine Toure, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside.

The away side found the net again just after the half-hour mark and this time it stood, they drew level after Chris Churchman’s 25-yard swerving free-kick caught out goalkeeper Sam Waller, with the ball squirming through the shot-stopper’s legs and into the net.

Things would get worse for Hyde United early in the second half when visitors Bamber Bridge took the lead, with Ewan Bange tapping home from close range after his initial effort was kept out by Sam Waller in the Tigers goal.

Waller had to get down smartly to his left to prevent the away side from doubling their lead moments later when Billy Bould forced a fine save from the Hyde number one.

With little to report on for the remainder of the second half, it looked as though visitors Bamber Bridge were set to come away with all three points before Nick Spooner's men were handed a lifeline in the form of a penalty.

Up stepped one of Hyde’s main men this season, Jack Redshaw, who looked to rescue a point for his side at the death. There was an audible gasp inside the stadium as Redshaw’s penalty was saved by James Pradic down to his right, but this was followed by elation as Redshaw headed home the rebound after the ball spun back up into the air, levelling up the scoring at 2-2 in the 91^st minute of time.

The win means Nick Spooner's men currently sit in 6^th place in the NPL Premier table ahead of their away trip to Guiseley this Saturday (December 16).
