Marine sink Droylsden

BetVictor North West: Droylsden 0-7 Marine

Clinical finishing saw a comprehensive victory for a Marine side as the team from Merseyside completed an emphatic victory over Droylsden.

The visitors were two up inside the first seven minutes, Neil Kenghi allowed to run into the box to easily score past Elliot Wynne and a minute later a mix up at the back saw the ball deflect into an empty net.

The Bloods tried to repair the early damage, Danny Wilkins racing into the box on the right and seeing his effort deflected for a corner. From the corner the ball fell to an unmarked Domaine Rouse whose shot was blocked by a defender.

But the visitors continued to look dangerous when they ventured into the Bloods' half. Jordan Lussy made it three on 24 minutes, his shot from the edge of the area taking a wicked deflection into the top corner.

George Hassall made it 4-0 three minutes later, playing a one-two with Kenghi before lobbing the ball over the keeper.

On the stroke of half-time Droylsden thought they got one back only to see Domaine Rouse’s header come back off the inside of the post.

The second-half brought no respite as within two minutes the visitors had a fifth, Lussy given far too much room in the centre of the box to easily score.

Mark Howarth made it six with just over half an hour left rising above the defence and also came close to a seventh, Wynne saving superbly low down to his right from his free kick.

But Howarth got a second on 80 minutes to wrap up a fine performance from the visitors.
