Mossley came back from Monday’s trip to Merseyside with three points after a 2-0 win over NPL West strugglers City of Liverpool.

The victory means The Lilywhites now lead the division in terms of clean sheets, with 14.

The away side started the match brightly, going close early on through a header from Michael Brewster before new signing Wealth Da Silva forced a smart save from Conor Robson.

After a goalless first half, the home side were reduced to ten men early in the second after skipper Michael Grogan was shown a second yellow card for a high boot.

With 15 minutes to go, visitors Mossley made the extra man count, with Da Silva tapping home from the rebound after Brewster’s initial effort was saved.

This lead was doubled minutes later when Da Silva turned provider, drilling the ball across the face of goal for Eric Yahaya who fired home and ensured the points would be coming back to Tameside.

The win sees David Fish’s men move up to 10th in the NPL West table, ahead of second placed Vauxhall Motors’ visit to Seel Park this weekend.
