Hyde Make It Two From Two

Charlie Barnard was the hero as Hyde pulled off a sensational win at last season's runners up Didsbury on Saturday.

Barnard, who received his first call up for Cheshire last week, celebrated in style with 88 not out as Hyde chased down 230 to record their second successive victory of the season.

Having lost the toss Hyde were asked of bowl first and made an early breakthrough with Andrew Jackson having Tim Hughes (4) trapped leg before with just the fourth ball of the innings. 

Sixteen runs later and Didsbury were 20-2, Luke Young removing Marcus Fisher. 

This brought Charlie Lowen to the crease and he and Noah Croes moved the score on to 74 before Croes became Jackson's second victim of the afternoon. With just one run added to the total Danny Cranmer got the wicket of Steve Green and Didsbury were rocking on 75-4.

However, Cheshire captain Nick Anderson joined Lowens and there was always a danger that the pair could take the game away from the Werneth Low men, despite their precarious position.
The pair showed their class against some excellent Hyde bowling and took the score on to 131 before Barnard had Lowen caught by David Fisher for 46. 

Hyde continued to chip away and claimed wickets at regular intervals, but when Anderson (62) became the eighth wicket to fall Didsbury were 217.

The visitors soon wrapped up the innings and Didsbury had amassed 229ao.

Jackson claimed 4-65, Cranmer 3-62 and Barnard 2-35. 

In reply Hyde got off to a fast start and although they lost Tom Partridge (5) in just the fourth over, they were already on 24. 

Barnard joined Young, who looked in fantastic form. 

He had taken his personal score to 34, out of Hyde's total of 41, when he was clean bowled by Anderson. 

The next phase of play was to be key to any chances of a Hyde victory as Adam Worrall joined teenager Barnard in the middle. 

The pair batted sensibly and moved the score beyond one-hundred. Worrall went for a well-made 32 with the score on Nelson (111). 

Under real pressure Barnard belied his tender years, whilst at the other end David Fitzsimmons, the senior player in the side, showed all his class as the duo made sure there were no more scares. 

Barnard brought up his 50 off 109 balls and he didn't stop there. 

He finished on a superb 88no whilst Fitzsimmons ended 54no as Hyde reached their target with more than 10 overs remaining. 
This Saturday sees Hyde entertain the reigning champions Nantwich.
