Glover swaps NPL for NZ

Jay Glover has left Hyde United to play football in New Zealand.

The 21-year-old midfielder made nine appearances for the Tigers, including five starts, after signing from Matlock Town in September.

He began his career with hometown club Sheffield Wednesday, making three appearances in cup competitions for the Owls in between loan spells at Norther Premier League sides Belper Town and Gainsborough Trinity.

He also played on loan in the National League North for Spennymoor Town during the 2023/24 season.

“We’d like to wish Jay well in his new adventure and thank him for his contribution whilst at the club,” said a statement from Hyde United.

Glover has joined Hamilton Wanderers, who play at the 5,000 capacity Porritt Stadium in the Northern League, New Zealand’s second tier.
