On Tuesday night some of our local sides were in league and cup action.

It was a great night for Stalybridge Celtic who put in a five star performance at Bower Fold, thrashing Grantham Town 5-0. Jake Burton was the star man on the evening with a brace, whilst the other goals came from Justin Johnson, Keenan Quansah and a Scott Bakkor penalty.

Elsewhere, Hyde United fell to a 4-2 defeat at Witton Albion. The damage was already done by the half-time whistle with the Tigers 3-1 behind, and the hosts made it 4-1 in the 89th minute, before Tom Pratt pulled one back in the dying embers to make the final score 4-2.

In the Manchester Premier Cup first round, Ashton United cruised to a 4-1 victory at Chadderton. Harry Coates, Tom Bentham, Ben Hardcastle and Casian Anghel notched for the Robins.
