Faulkner fends off opponent for 12th pro win

Tameside boxer Bobby Faulkner extended his unblemished pro record to 12 wins earlier this month with a fourth round TKO over Akrem Aouina in Milan.

After a nervy opening round, the Audenshaw fighter went on to dominate his Tunisian opponent and record his first ever victory on foreign soil.

The welterweight bout – which was broadcast live on DAZN – represented Bobby’s toughest test yet, which he passed with flying colours in front of a packed out Centro Pavesi.

“That was some performance,” said Bobby’s coach, and former WBA Lightweight World Champion, Anthony Crolla following the victory.

“This win was one of my very best as a coach and even in boxing as know how hard Bobby has had it.

“This win now will hopefully get Bobby a shot on the big shows where he belongs.”

Contests have been hard to come by for the 26-year-old, who when not training in the gym, builds swimming pools for a living alongside his dad, Rob.

But just weeks after the fight, Bobby is already preparing to throw himself straight back in at the deep end, when he takes on Argentine Carlos Daniel Aquino in Canada next month.
