Droylsden's Deniz dazzles in Leeds

A dominant display from Droylsden’s Billy Deniz saw him extend his unbeaten professional record to 16 wins, crushing Alex Carter at Leeds’ First Direct Arena. 

Last Saturday's scheduled six round bout was over in a flash, as ‘The Turkish Tyson’ forced a corner retirement at the end of round two. 

Deniz had far too much for his Littleborough-based opponent, overpowering him from the first bell in ruthless fashion in just his second super-middleweight clash. 

The victory sees the 25-year-old – who is coached by renowned trainer Joe Gallagher – take a step closer to his dream of landing a British title fight. 

When reflecting on the bout, the Droylsden resident remained modest with his comments: 

“It was alright,” he told Ring Walk Media with a smirk. 

“No it was a good performance, I’m happy with it. I got let off the leash tonight. 

When quizzed on whether he’s ready to step into title fight territory, Deniz revealed: 

“A few people have said this to me, but Joe [Gallagher] and Kevin [Maree] have got a plan for me. I’ve just got to keep winning, keep building and keep learning, that’s all that matters really. 

“It’s my second fight at super-middle, and I feel like I’ve grown into the weight massively. I’m fighting kids that are my weight now, and I’m just stronger and fitter. 

“We’ve got this out of the way now, I’ll get back in the gym and hopefully, there’ll be a big end to the year.”
