DCCL round-up: Old Glossop see off Birch Vale

Division 1 produced a mix of dominant wins and competitive totals, with several strong individual performances shaping results.

Old Glossop secured a comprehensive 101-run victory over Birch Vale after posting 205, with B. Ramsden and R. Adderley both taking five-wicket hauls in reply to bowl Birch Vale out for 104. 

Broadbottom comfortably chased down 103 against Newton, reaching 107/3 to win by 7 wickets.

New Mills recorded an emphatic 117-run win over Chapel, scoring 248/9 with C. Matheson making 60 before bowling Chapel out for 131 despite T. Nanson’s 64. 

High Lane were equally dominant, with A. Melnyk’s superb 120 (127 balls, 13 fours, 3 sixes) leading them to 254/7 before dismissing Charlesworth for 142, J. McCarthy taking 5 for 49.

Dinting claimed a solid 90-run win over Dove Holes, defending 222/8 by bowling their opponents out for 132. 

Tintwistle edged a high-scoring contest against Whaley Bridge, posting 247/9 with contributions from C. Harris (59) and K. Brathwaite (70*), before restricting Whaley Bridge to 227 despite L. Jones’ 93, sealing a 20-run victory.

In Division 2, Buxworth chased down 197 to beat Pott Shrigley by 4 wickets, led by D. Moore’s 78, while W. Barlow (53*) and S. Howard (51) had earlier set a competitive total. 

Dinting snatched a dramatic 1-wicket win over Dove Holes after chasing 143, with A. Critchlow’s 52 a key contribution in the first innings.

Hayfield edged a tight game against Hollingworth, chasing 179 with 3 wickets to spare, despite T. Conway’s 86 and an outstanding 7 for 46 from H. Flack. 

Hazel Grove defeated New Mills by 59 runs in a low-scoring match, with T. Boardman’s 6 for 46 and C. Higson’s 5 for 15 dominating with the ball.

Broadbottom eased past Newton by 7 wickets after bowling them out for 121, J. Rowbotham taking 5 for 41. 

Birch Vale edged a nervy chase against Old Glossop, reaching 112/9 to win by 1 wicket.

Division 3 saw Charlesworth defeat High Lane by 36 runs, thanks to W. Younas’ impressive 90. 

Hollingworth chased down 85 to beat Hayfield by 6 wickets, while Kerridge claimed an 81-run win over Chapel, with C. Lucas taking 5 for 31.

Buxworth beat Pott Shrigley by 40 runs after posting 176/7, with J. Galloway scoring 51 and S. Bradley taking 5 for 30 in reply. 

Tintwistle delivered the standout result of the division, piling up 251/5 before restricting Whaley Bridge to 87/9, completing a dominant 164-run victory.
