Celtic stun in new kit

Stalybridge Celtic Juniors U13's are looking the part this season in brand new away kits.

The team, which was created this season and are currently unbeaten and top of the EMJFL Championship division, have been sponsored by Mossley Car Care. The sponsorship is said to have come as an absolute life line for the club - especially in the current climate with small businesses suffering massively.

Stalybridge Celtic provide a covid safe and secure soccer school for all ages of children from four upwards, on a Saturday morning, at the club facilities on Mossley Road, Ashton. All are welcome.

In other news, free school meals for any family who need them will be provided by Stalybridge Celtic Juniors this half term.

Launched in response to Marcus Rashford's #endchildfoodpoverty campaign to ensure no child goes hungry during the autumn half term, Stalybridge Celtic Juniors FC has partnered with local company Rawco Environmental to provide as many meals as required.

Lunches, which include a sandwich, snack, piece of fruit, and a drink, will be available to collect, with no questions asked, from their Soccer School base on Mossley Road, Ashton-Under Lyne OL6 9BY between 11:30 and 13:00 every day this week. Batches will also be delivered to local community leaders to distribute to those families who cannot get to the Soccer School.

Stalybridge Celtic Juniors chairman Mike Taylor said: "As soon as Marcus Rashford started his campaign to ensure no child goes hungry during the school holidays we knew had to do something. Families close to us in Stalybridge and Tameside are under real financial hardship so if we can do anything to help we will.

Since announcing the project on Friday we have been overwhelmed with the generosity and kindness from people connected to the Junior club and wider community. We’ve had hundreds of donations and many people offer to volunteer their time. Any families who need the help can collect as many children’s lunches as they need, without judgment."

Anyone who wishes to support the project with a donation can drop off items at the Soccer School during the open times or donate via PayPal using stalybridgecelticjuniors@gmail.com Any community groups in Tameside who could distribute to those in need are invited to get in touch.
