Celtic launch JustGiving page to raise funds for the club

Stalybridge Celtic have launched a JustGiving page to raise funds for the club during the nationwide lockdown.

Celtic initially set a target of £500 but have smashed that figure and have currently raised £1,590.

Former players including Lee Trundle, who went on to feature in the Football League with Swansea City, Leeds United and Preston North End, has backed the cause, along with club legend Tony Sullivan.

Fans have also rallied round with some supporters donating as much as £50.

Celtic's season was cut short due to the nationwide lockdown and they finished 12th in the BetVictor Premier Division, although the season has subsequently been null and voided. Just weeks before the lockdown, manager Simon Haworth was rewarded with a two-year contract extension which will see him continue with the first team and Academy matters.
