Buxton athlete crowned Britain's female swimmer of the year

Buxton's Abbie Wood.

Abbie Wood had already shown her skills during the Tokyo Olympic Games, but she has now been crowned swimmer of the year by Propulsion Swimming.

The Buxton athlete defied all limits when she championed through her 200m individual medley final, missing out on a bronze medal by a margin.

Wood was able to secure a personal best of 2 min 9.5 seconds and followed this with superb performances at the International Swimming League where she reigned the leading British swimmer.

The 22-year-old will now set her sights on the 2022 Commonwealth Games which are set to take place in Birmingham.

Her sporting career has already shone a spotlight on the immense talent that Abbie holds and this is sure to progress in future years.
