Bloods back to winning ways

Droylsden returned to winning ways on Saturday, leaving it late to gain all three points against bottom-side Skelmersdale United.

This was a much-needed victory for the Bloods after having dropped points in their two previous games.

Dave Pace’s side earned a convincing 3-0 win against Skelmersdale only three weeks prior to this clash but found themselves behind after only 11 minutes through Renato De Oliveria Gomes.

However, the Bloods were back level midway through the first half. Ben Lowe played a dinked through ball to Fuad Kasali who squared the ball past the onrushing keeper and Sheriff Njie slotted home his first goal of the season.

There was a special moment in the second half as George West made his long-awaited return to action after taking time away from football with a heart condition at the back end of last season.

It looked as though the points would be shared until the 88th minute when Shaquille Lewys scored Droylsden’s second and subsequent match winner.
