Avro Lose Out In Close Game

Avro were beaten 2-1 away at Ashton Athletic in a closely fought game that ended the Oldham based teams two-game unbeaten run.

This was a game where the action came in the first half as Ashton were ahead after just four minutes with Dale Butler being fed the ball and he had time to turn and smash the ball past Lathum.

On the 24th minute, Avro were level as Louis Potts receives the ball in the area and chips the ball over the keeper in what was a fantastic finish.

Just as Avro were back in the game at 1-1 they went behind just two minutes later with butler again scoring for Ashton. He didn’t know much about this one as Lathum’s clearance hit the Ashton striker and flew into the net.

The game stayed quiet for the majority of the game as Ashton were comfortable and were preserving their lead well.

In the 78th minute, Avro thought they had their equaliser when Potts tried the spectacular with an overhead kick but the Ashton keeper saved brilliantly to wrap up the three points for the home side.

Perhaps fortunate with the winning goal but Ashton looked comfortable. For Avro, they may feel a little bit hard done by.
