Visiting Angels heralded for care beyond compare

A care company operating across Tameside can claim to be amongst the best in Britain, after health watchdogs made them one of just 4% in the country to be considered OUTSTANDING.

Inspectors from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) gave Visiting Angels East Manchester, maximum marks after a rigorous analysis of the time they spend with people with conditions such as dementia, and how they spread their wings to help  the entire community.

And they were so impressed overall they commented, “If my mother and father needed care, I would come to you!”

Unlike often overwrought carers who only have time to dispense pills, Visiting Angels establish personal relationships with their clients, involving families every step of the way. They also carefully match them with carers who have similar interests, culture, and language – a real boon in Tameside.

One of their most innovative ideas has been to promote their provision in a series of videos which are delivered by staff in English, Urdu, Hindi, Italian, and Setswana (Botswana)!

This approach to inclusion had inspectors purring, as they added: “We just wish we could bottle this up and send it to carers across the country.”

Unsurprisingly, their contribution has already led to a series of accolades including Care Employer of the Year. It has also made Visiting Angels a company of choice for the cream of the social care business. Manager Jodii Harthan said: “I have been caring for 15 years and Visiting Angels are like no other organisation. The management here is great and you really feel you are making a difference.”

Future plans include memorabilia coffee mornings for clients with dementia and their families. Roxie Taj, Director of Visiting Angels East Manchester, said: “Genuinely, this achievement is a team effort and we are one big family, from the way MD Badar Usmani engages with families and the community, to our carers, who we celebrate, develop, and encourage.

For my part, I want to be a role model for Muslim women and to show them that they can progress in the world of business.”

She concluded: “We have achieved the perfect score from inspectors, but the challenge is to now maintain those standards and continue to make Visiting Angels fly.”
