A live music venue came alive on Saturday evening as DJs and party lovers reunited for a charity event.
DJ and event organiser, Dave Sweetmore, described the Tokyo Reunion club night as ‘amazing and could not have gone any better. It was great from start to finish’.
The legendary nightclub, now called the Whittles Oldham, brought back the original lineup and DJs to mark the club’s 10th anniversary of the venue’s closure and to raise vital funds for Papyrus Prevention of Young Suicide – a charity dedicated to preventing suicide in young people.
Dave said: “We wanted to organise a reunion for DJs we hadn’t seen for over 15 years and then managed to arrange it when we thought it would be great to raise funds for the charity too.”

The sell-out event, with 300 partygoers, sold out within the first two weeks after tickets went on sale in October.
Dave said: “Tokyo was an iconic venue back in the days and I worked there for 10 years. I got in touch with the DJs for the reunion club night.”
Music on the night consisted of Indie, R&B, Soul and much more, “It was what we played back in the days. It closed as Tokyo’s 10 years ago,” added Dave.
