Police are appealing for witnesses after two people were woken and attacked in a violent attempted burglary in Oldham.
The burglars struck at around 2am at the Honeywell Arms on Ashton Road, in Hathershaw, where the victims, a man and woman, were attacked.
It is believed two men broke into the building through a first-floor window.
As the victims were awoken by the noise they were confronted and a fight occurred, where the female victim suffered an injury to her face receiving treatment at hospital. The male victim didn’t suffer any serious injuries.
Det Sgt Matt Adshead said: "This is shocking incident where two people have been asleep in their own quarters before being startled in distressing circumstances.
“After our initial investigation, we are keeping all available lines of enquiry open, but believe it was a targeted attack.
“We are committed to finding those responsible to bring them to justice and ensure we can keep the local community safe and supported.
