A 14-strong Oldham Mountain Rescue Team was called to assist a walker with a suspected broken leg at Dovestone Reservoir.
Using one of their 4x4 Land Rovers, the team quickly located the casualty on the main path around the reservoir Friday lunch time.
A team medic assessed the injury, administered pain relief, and immobilised the walker's leg with a splint.
Once Northwest Ambulance Service arrived, casualty care was handed over, and volunteers assisted by carefully loading the patient onto a stretcher and carrying approximately 400 metres to the waiting ambulance.
“We wish the casualty a speedy recovery,” said an OMRT spokesperson.
The rescue duration was one hour and 45 minutes.
Oldham Mountain Rescue Team are fundraising to replace their ageing Land Rovers, which helps them to get rescuers and vital equipment to casualties in terrain other vehicles can't reach.
