Hospice to hold 'donation drive-thru'

Dr Kershaw's Hospice in Oldham is holding two "drive-in donations" days this week for supporters to stop and drop off their donations quickly and safely.

They will take place at the hospice's base on Turf Lane in Royton from 10am to 2pm on Thursday 16 and Friday 17 July. 

As part of these dedicated days, the hospice will be accepting clothing donations - along with books, DVDs, bric-a-brac and toys.

The hospice say it will not be accepting donations of buggies or prams, child’s car seats, cots, TVs and old computers or printers.

For any larger furniture items, people are asked to contact Charlie from The Big White Charity Van on 0161 222 0808 to arrange collection. 

The hospice also asks that donations are items that can be accepted and bags are well-sealed, to ensure your donation drop-off is "as easy and as safe as possible". 

People are asked to follow instructions from the Dr Kershaw's team when arriving at the hospice car park, only one person can leave the car to hand over donations, and ensure social distancing is adhered to at all times. 

Rebecca Bentham, Head of Income Development at Dr Kershaw's, said: "Due to the success of our previous donation days, we are delighted to be able to offer supporters two additional days to donate their goods.

"The drive-in days will enable donations to be dropped off quickly, easily and safely. Plus there is no limit on how much you can donate! The Hospice costs £3.6 million a year to keep our doors open, and our services free to patients both in the inpatient unit and within the community.
