Councillors, veterans and local residents gathered in silence at Oldham’s Spindles shopping centre this morning to mark Remembrance Day.
Council Leader, Councillor Arooj Shah, along with the Mayor of Oldham, Councillor Eddie Moores and other dignitaries observed a two-minute silence to remember the end of the First World War and pay tribute to those servicemen and women, who sacrificed their lives for the country.
Cllr Shah said: “We can never forget the sacrifice that men and women have paid across generations for our freedom today.”
