A LOCAL charity is running its south Asian Dementia hub this week.
Fatima Women’s Association on Marlborough Street invites community members to attend and use the help available.
Dementia, according to The Alzheimer’s Research UK, is not something that just happens to everyone as they get older.
It is caused by different diseases, and it affects various parts of the brain. In the UK, almost one million people are affected by the disease.
Some people may be more likely to develop dementia than others, including those who have had a stroke, diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, and depression.
The South Asian community is seeing a faster rise in the number of people diagnosed with dementia than the general population.
Anyone affected by dementia can attend the session on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 11am-1pm.
