National Highways have released the next phase of works on the A57 Link Road Project.
1) Upcoming plant crossing work
- To build the new link roads, large volumes of soil and earth need to be moved across Mottram Moor.
- To do this safely and efficiently, a temporary plant crossing - which is a short road for construction vehicles - will be installed. The crossing will remain in place until the end of the project.
- The crossing will be used throughout the scheme, but it will be needed more often during the drier months.
2) Overnight roadworks at Mottram Moor
In March a concrete foundation for the plant crossing was built. To make it fully operational overnight work needs to be completed from Monday 27th April to Friday 1st May. During these works:
- temporary traffic lights will operate between 8pm and 6am
- Mottram Moor will be reduced to a single lane with vehicles passing through one direction at a time
- temporary traffic lights will also be used at the junction of Back Moor and Gun Inn
- Pedestrian access will always be maintained.
3) Woolley Bridge traffic lights and piling
- Temporary two-way lights will be installed at Woolley Bridge between Tuesday 28th and Wednesday 29th April.
- Between 9.30am and 3pm, drivers will run in single file through the lights. Short delays to journeys will be expected.
- The temporary lights are required to widen access which will allow for piling works to start. They are scheduled to begin at Woolley Bridge from Monday 5th May.
- These works are expected to continue until the end of July 2026.
