The Glossop branch of the Royal British Legion has thanked the community for its support following the launch of this year’s Poppy Appeal.
Volunteers gathered in Norfolk Square on Saturday 24th October, selling poppies and wreaths to raise vital funds to support the Armed Forces community.
Councillor Jean Wharmby, speaking on behalf of the branch, thanked everyone who helped make the launch a success.
She said: “Glossop Royal British Legion would like to thank all our volunteers and thank the Glossopdale community for their support.
“At any given moment, the Royal British Legion is helping nearly 8,000 members of the Armed Forces community by providing expert advice and practical support.
“Wearing a poppy helps to connect society over the Remembrance period and reminds us of our shared history and the importance of modern-day service.
“Don’t underestimate the impact that wearing a poppy has on those who serve and their families. It’s a gesture that is never taken for granted.”
