All high-sided vehicles have been banned from using the A628 Woodhead Pass due to harsh weather conditions caused by Storm Floris.
A yellow weather warning for strong winds is currently in place across many areas of northern England - including Greater Manchester - until midnight tonight.
The Woodhead Pass currently remains closed to traffic between the A57 Mottram Moor (Gun Inn traffic lights) to the A616 (Flouch Roundabout).
Drivers are being urged to take care while travelling, and to find alternative routes to their destination.
