Tameside Hospital launches Critical Care comedy night

The team at Tameside Hospital hosted the comedy night to raise money for the Critical Care unit at the hospital.

On 25 April, the Critical Care team at Tameside Hospital put on a huge night of comedy featuring some big names at Stalybridge Celtic Football Club.

The Headline Act was Tez Ilyas, as seen on The Last Leg, Mock the Week and Live at the Apollo - just to name a few! Following on, they had an incredible performance from Black Sonic Revolver.

The hospital also had two more stellar voices waiting in the wings: Seeta Wrightson - an award-winning comedian as seen on BBC1, BBC3 and Channel 4; and David Stanier, who, according to the Manchester Wire, "is a master of the misleading punchline, and by far the most fun performer currently on the Northwest scene".

Sarah Penkett, Advanced Critical Care Practitioner, said: “We held the Critical Care Charity Comedy Night: A Dose of Laughter to raise funds for a piece of equipment called Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT). This cutting-edge, non-invasive technology gives us a real-time view of how the lungs are functioning at the bedside, helping us tailor ventilation more safely and effectively.

“It was a brilliant night full of laughter and generosity, and we’re proud to have raised £1922.25, bringing us to an incredible total of £3,275 raised this year for the unit.”
