St. Stephen’s RC Primary School make a splash in their new puddle suits

Nursery children at St Stephen’s RC Primary School are enjoying the outdoors even more thanks to the generous donation of new puddle suits from Ryder and Dutton.

The waterproof suits will support outdoor learning for the school’s Nursery children, allowing them to explore the school’s extensive outdoor environment in all weathers. St Stephen’s boasts an award-winning allotment complete with chickens, an orchard, a large pond and a woodland area planted over 20 years ago by site manager Mr Gary Allcock.

Nursery teacher Miss Taylor said the suits will play an important role in children’s development.

“These puddle suits will help improve the children’s fine motor skills as they learn to dress themselves. They will also help to build confidence and independence. Being outdoors in the rain is a wonderful sensory experience that stimulates all the senses and supports speech and language development.”

Headteacher Mr Lavin thanked Ryder and Dutton for their support.

“We are very grateful to Ryder and Dutton for their kind donation. We believe that children who appreciate the natural environment from a young age will become stewards who seek to care for God’s creation.”

The school says the new suits will ensure children can continue to benefit from outdoor learning experiences throughout the year. Places are currently available in the school’s Nursery and families are warmly invited to contact the school for further information or to arrange a visit.
