Longshots

From Monday 30th September onwards, our band of the week on Tameside Radio's Local Music Spotlight feature are Longshots. The four piece rock n roll band from Marple consists of Col Barlow (vocals and guitar), drummer Daz Frisk, guitarist Rick Henry, and bass player Ricko Thorne. Each member has been an active musician in the Greater Manchester music scene since the mid 1980's.

After a long break, the band recently reformed from the ashes of a professional covers band that broke up 22 years ago and are now back playing only original songs with energetic catchy hooks and soaring melodies over blistering guitars inspired by bands such as The Police, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Blondie, The Clash and The Pretenders, and yet while sounding authentically retro, the band have something fresh, original and distinctly unique to offer.

Several gigs have taken place this year and as the band head into the last part of 2024 and into 2025 they have announced that they will be supporting legendary punk band 'The Skids' on forthcoming gigs. Longshots next gig takes place on Thursday October 3rd at Stockport's Amp Live Music Venue. Playing alongside Longshots at the gig will be Glossop band 'Shake Rag' and 'The Cheaters'. The night starts at 8pm and admission is free.

Longshots and their music will be played on every daytime show on Tameside Radio from 6am on Monday. 30th September. The Band also joined the team on The Dave Sweetmore Show last Monday night, 23rd September, you can listen again via the OnDemand section of the website.
