Atlas

From Monday 18th November onwards, band of the week on Tameside Radio's Local Music Spotlight feature are Atlas.

The five piece indie rock n roll band from Littleborough, Rochdale, only formed last year, and in the space of just twelve months have proven themselves to be one of the best and tightest, and most exciting new bands around. They met at Wardle High School and played their first gig at their secondry school leavers assembly. Since then the bands fanbase has exploded and their reputation has gone quicker than any of them could have imagined.

Atlas look great, sound cool, have a fierce attitude, and put on high energy performances that can rival many bands who have been around much longer. Atlas have so far entered two Battle Of The Bands competitions, which they won both of with ease. The first one was in Rochdale, where they went on to support Ocean Colour Scene, Heather Small and The Lottery Winners at the Rochdale Feelgood Festival, the other was in Rossendale, where they won a full day in a professional recording studio.

Due to their popularity, they also played at Tameside Radio's last 'Local Music Spotlight Live' night at Whittles Live Music Venue in Oldham, before they had even appeared on the popular feature. They are the only band to have done this in almost 100 bands which have now featured. Debut single 'Don't Miss Mr Mills' is available on all usual streaming platforms, and with 2025 looking like a busy year for the band with new releases, more gigs, and the chance of more festival appearances on the horizon. 

Atlas really are one of the most exciting new bands around for a long time. Atlas and their music will be played on every daytime show on Tameside Radio from 6am on Monday.
