Picture Nova
Band of the week on Tameside Radio's Local Music Spotlight feature are Picture Nova. The four 4-piece indie band are forever rising on the local music scene and are captivating audiences with their fresh and authentic sound.
Based in Manchester, the dynamic group give their loyal fanbase an energetic and catchy punk and indie rock sound that perfectly showcases the liveliness of the band's live performances. Picture Nova began their journey in 2022, when undergraduate sound engineering students Daneel (Lead guitar), Brad (Drums), and Callum (Bass), set out to explore Manchester’s vibrant music scene in search of a vocalist. After hearing and being blown away by Arthur’s voice (Vocals and Rhythm guitar) as he performed an acoustic cover of David Bowie's “Starman” at an open mic night, they knew they had found the missing piece of the band.
The four became friends and the final strong line up of Picture Novawas born. Debut single “Nancy” was conceived out of the lad's immediate chemistry, with the four of them writing the song in their very first rehearsal together.
The track is available on all usual streaming platforms and heavily showcases Nova’s distinctive style and thought-provoking lyrics, with the track inspired by the band's collective influences such as The Libertines, Sports Team, and The Big Moon.
Led by Arthur’s mesmerising vocals, Picture Nova deliver an unforgettable live experience that fuses punk’s energy with indie’s introspection.
Picture Nova continue to gain momentum as they head towards their upcoming string of live shows, including a night for the popular RGM Magazine at Gulliver's in Manchester on Saturday March 30th where they will be playing alongside The Matchbox and Chicken Man and The Bad Eggs. They are also hoping to feature on several festivals this summer.
Picture Nova will be played on every weekday show on Tameside Radio between 6am and 7pm all of next week. The band also joined the team on The Dave Sweetmore Show last Monday night, you can listen again via the OnDemand section of the website.
