Fund-raisers are asking people to take the time to help repair a landmark church clock.
The time is now to save an historic timepiece following the launch of an appeal to repair a church clock.
Time has stood still in recent times for those looking up at the St Mark’s Church clock in Dukinfield, situated off Church Street.
The clock itself is 144 years old, but to start it ticking again will cost an estimated £3,500.
The Rev Ken Williams, vicar at the church, said: “I’ve received a number of messages from members of our community asking why the clock isn’t working.
“We’re currently raising funds for the church clock. It’s served the community well since it was installed when the tower was added to the church in 1880.”
Although the estimated cost of the work required to repair the clock is £3,500, this could be a little more, depending upon what is required.
The Rev Williams explained: “All parts are ‘hand-made’ and involve the work of a specialist.”
